Club Imagine connects the social debate about climate change to the world of theater makers and thinkers. Eight times a year, the club brings together stories of change in the hall of the Rotterdamse Schouwburg. Performing arts, visual arts, literature, reflection and criticism come into contact with science, politics and entrepreneurship. Recurring formats always offer new windows on the reality of climate change.

Art is a necessity for the great demand of climate change. That is why the Rotterdamse Schouwburg is part of Imagine 2020, Art, Ecology and possible futures, a network of European art institutions. Art stimulates our imagination, creates new images and designs prototypes of possible sustainable futures. The climate debate in particular requires new stories and imagination. To make the matter understandable without simplifying it. As a rebuttal against doomsday scenarios. As inspiration for individual and collective forms of engagement and action. For three years we’ve been part in all the editions of Club Imagine in Theater Rotterdam. Next to that we’ve been sent as Theater Rotterdams artist to the Imagine 2020 Summerlab in 2017, and we spent six weeks as Artist in Residence at Brienenoord Eiland in Rotterdam in 2019, as a conclusion to the European network of Imagine 2020.
